If the desire to receive it is a desire for one’s self alone, what is received will be illusion, delusion, or worse. All the misery and suffering on earth results from a desire to receive for self alone. This was the original sin in the garden of eden, the paradise lost by Adam and Eve. This is why the serpent was cursed to wriggle on its belly through the dust for the rest of its days but how, few ask, did it move before? And this is why, for as long a we can remember, a terrible night has been falling from the skies over our planet; it is why this darkness seems just to get darker and it is why the whole world now looks for a Messiah to save it from itself.
Yet darkness is not the opposite of Light, it is the absence of Light and an absence of something cannot be a quality, although it may seem to be one.
Similarly, evil is merely the absence of good, though to generalize evil is to deny its specificity. No one’s suffering should be ignored or minimized. We are capable of doing ourselves and others real harm, for anything that shuts out the Light is truly harmful to ourselves and our world in their pain. Many deny that there even is a merciful Creator; such is the effect of evil. And knowing that the Creator is Just does not allow us to pass Judgment on others unless we wish to face Judgment rather than Mercy ourselves.
Suffering exist for us to help them and to be able to help someone is a blessing that no money can buy. For life is not quite as we see it; nothing is as it seems to be for when we finally perceive Reality, the world will look flawlessly perfect like its Creator. Why else is Truth also known as Mystery?
